Q : Installing GPSWatch in Motorola Phones
In order to install Java apps from the file system (such as in development) you need to enable JAL (Java Application Loader) for the phone. By default this is
locked out of Motorola phone I assume because of the DRM issues. Non-signed binaries can be run is seems but it is not clear if it treats them differently or not.
For windows it is a relativity simple thing to do if you can get hold of the programs to do it. Joining motomodders.net is prolly a good start ;)
http://www.grapnel.co.uk/v620/transfergames.aspx
Gives a rough overview of how it is achieved.
On Linux it is a little more skilled but not so hard either. Using moto4lin you can edit the seem table and enable the flag. (http://www.planetmotox.net/motox101/v3_seem_table.htm) Then it is just a simple case of copying the jad/jar files across to flash and selecting GPW. Triggering the JAL, enables windows users to use the program to manage the midlets for them. moto4lin doesn't do that but seeing as I
have direct access to the file system instead it doesn't bother the user.

Q : Installing GPSWatch in Siemens Phones
In order to install Java applications on one of the BREW devices of BenQ-Siemens you need a Windows based software named Java Midlet Installer, or, in short JMI.
This software can be downloaded free of charge at http://download.benqmobile.com/repository/1297/129775/sxg75_jmi_v03.zip
After exctracting the software you can start it and connect your mobile phone to the data cable. After some seconds the application should state in the right part of its screen that the phone is connected. If the phone isn't recognized check connection with the Mobile Phone Manager which ships with your phone and can be downloaded on www.BenQmobile.com/SXG75 in the support section. (For other mobile phones just type your mobile phones name). If you haven't installed the „MPM“ yor system may just lack the necessary drivers.
Choose which type of application you want to install (application or game). Browse in the left part of the screen to the folder in which the JAD and JAR files of the application are and selcet one. Click on the „Install“ button on the right side. The application will be transfered to the phone. After the transfer is completed the phone needs a restart.
Now you can find the application in the games or application list in the menu depending on what you had selected as you installed it.
Incase you are not able to locate the JMI installer on the support website, please write to us.

Q. Why is there no WAP site for GPSWatch Download?
A : We felt that it was insecure to host our JAR applications because of some crawlers index all the private contents which are supposed to be visible only to customers. Also downloading application from mobile requires you to have GPRS subscription, instead its quite simple to download the attachment from the email and to load it on your phone :-)
GPSWatch application retrieves speed data from VTG NMEA messages which provide data on Course over ground and ground speed. Some GPS receivers have VTG messages disabled by default, refer to your GPS Receiver manual and enable VTG messages for proper functioning of GPSWatch.
Q. Is there a limitation on the size of the PNG Map Files?
A : Yes, mobile phones have some limitations on the memory allotted for the JVM so it directly affects on the size of the image that can be held in memory. Phones usually support from 50 KB - 250 KB of image size based on the configuration of the phone.
Q Why is export/import feature not working on my Nokia phone ?
You need to give the application the permission to create and access files on your phone memory card. To do it, go to collection (where GPSWatch is found), then go to options, then to Application Access, then to Phone Access, in "Read User Data" and "Add and edit data", select "Ask everytime"
Q. Is support being provided for tha application?
A: Incase you face any difficulty in using or installing the application, we request you to log it in our forum with complete platform and scenario details so that we could work on the fix.
